Volunteer Opportunities with BELL

There are many ways you or your organization can join BELL to help children from under-resourced communities gain the skills and determination they need to excel. In addition to the options listed below, we welcome the opportunity to discuss other ways that you can positively impact the lives of the thousands of children in BELL’s After School and Summer programs -- our “scholars.”

Work with BELL Scholars
Several opportunities exist for volunteers to engage scholars in their educational activities:

“Mentor Friday” Workshops
Share your passion and skills by leading a one-day enrichment activity for scholars in a subject like music, dance, art, health, or science.

Guest Speaking Engagements
Share stories about your career or life and expose our scholars to different life experiences.

Community Events
Volunteer at events that bring our BELL scholars, families, and communities together, such as our Closing Celebration, Field Day, or Parent Workshops.

Community Service
Help impart the value of community service to our youth by designing, facilitating, or participating in a community service project with a group of BELL scholars.

Shadow Day
Host a small group of BELL scholars at your office and inspire a potential career.

Customized Enrichment Seminars
Broaden scholars’ educational experience by teaching a several-weeks or several-months-long program of your interest.

Work with the BELL Organization
Help BELL build our capacity by leveraging your knowledge.  Opportunities for involvement include:

Cause Marketing
Help BELL develop and implement cause marketing campaigns.

Special Events Committee Participation
Join other business and community volunteers helping BELL design, fundraise, or execute new events, such as a golf tournament fundraiser or a networking luncheon.

Special Events Sponsorship
Sponsor an annual event such as the BELL Bowl flag football tournament with the New England Patriots at Gillette Stadium to raise funds and public-awareness for BELL.

Consulting
Contribute your expertise in public relations, marketing, or public policy.

Corporate-Wide Engagement Opportunities
Corporations and organizations have collaborated with BELL in creative ways, including:

Fidelity & BELL’s Stock Market Made Easy
Fidelity partnered with BELL to create “Stock Market Made Easy,” a program Fidelity organized and ran in BELL Summer to introduce our scholars to the basics of investment and to teach them financial fundamentals.

Deutsche Bank & BELL’s Book Drive
Deutsche Bank hosted a book drive so that their employees could purchase books off our scholars’ Amazon.com Wish List.  Deutsche Bank employees donated over 1,500 new books for scholars to build their home libraries.  Employees also organized a reading for our scholars.

Monster.com & BELL’s resuME
Monster.com and BELL organized a career day featuring several employees from Monster who spoke about their professions, discussed career-related topics with scholars, and helped scholars write their first “resumes.”

Brown Rudnick & BELL’s Mural Painting
Brown Rudnick organized volunteers to paint a mural at one of our New York City school sites.

Operation Warm
Each year, we partner with Operation Warm, a nonprofit organization, to give new donated coats to scholars.  Join us on distribution day to spread the gift of warmth to children.

Backpack/Holiday Drives
Several corporations have organized or participated in a backpack or gift drive to provide educational materials to scholars.

Parent/Community Workshops
We engage parents on a number of topics related to education, child development, and family life.  There are several opportunities to provide workshops on a topic related to your sector.
