BELL Celebrates Summer!

The days are getting warmer and the school year is coming to a close, but BELL scholars know that learning does not stop in June. Each year, principals, teachers and BELL staff prepare for another exciting season of learning and fun.

Did you know that two-thirds of the achievement gap that exists among 9th graders can be attributed to unequal access to summer learning opportunities in elementary school? (Read the research from Johns Hopkins University here.) BELL Summer stops this trend even before scholars graduate elementary school by increasing children's reading skills and levels of parental involvement. (See the Urban Institute study here.)
